The Village has established a code enforcement program to uphold codes adopted by the Village Board. These codes include the Unified Development Ordinance and the Property Maintenance Code. The Property Maintenance Code applies to all residential and non-residential structures. These codes provide the minimum requirements to ensure public health, safety and welfare. Enforcement of these codes maintains property values and healthy neighborhoods. If you have any questions about this program, contact the Community Development Department.

The list below contains common code violations:

Uncut grass or tall weeds. All premises and exterior property
Broken Windows or Doors
Unstable Accessory Structures
Rubbish
Work without a Permit
Outdoor Storage: Appliances, Equipment & Building Materials
Home-based Business Violations

If you see a code violation, contact the Community Development Department at 847-741-3894 to file a complaint. Complaints may be made anonymously and are handled in the order they are received.
