This is an open space area crucial to balance urban sprawl. Areas such as these attract wildlife, provide clean air, and filter water as it moves through wetlands to replenish aquifers and act as flood mitigation areas.

South Elgin Parks and Recreation has been working with Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. (HLR), to restore the native habitat at Hobart Pond and recently put in a Heron Nesting Tripod to provide habitat to the variety of heron and egret species already utilizing the pond.  Click here to read more about this exciting new addition to the Wetland area.
