338 Valley Forge Avenue
The newest rain garden in South Elgin near the South Elgin Little League Fields. This trouble area was always difficult to maintain and it needed to serve a purpose. Eagle Scout Timothy Markwell coordinated an effort with the Department. The project was funded by a grant with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife. The area includes a wood bridge to the concession stand, native plantings and roof-line gutters to drain into this area. The rain garden not only keeps the plants healthy, but eliminates excessive water on the ball fields and cools the roof run-off before it percolates into the ground or enters the storm sewer system.
