Summer Care 2020
South Elgin Parks & Recreation knows that this is a trying time for everyone. We are preparing to enter Phase 3 of the State of Illinois re-opening plan. We have made many changes to our Summer Camp program to allow it to run this summer. The program will now be called Summer Care and will be managed like daycare vs. a camp setting. Here are the highlights:
Dates: 6/15-8/7 (8 weekly sessions)
Days: Monday-Friday (you must register & pay for all 5 days – no daily registration)
Cost: $220 R/$253 NR per child (per week)
$176 R/$203 NR per child for week of June 30 – no camp on July 3
Min/Max: 8 is the minimum and 24 is the maximum allowed. If we enter Phase 4, may allow more registrations at that time.
There will be 3 groups based on age/grade and participants will stay in the same group for the entire summer. Each group will be assigned their own indoor space and bathroom – this helps with cross contamination. All areas will be sanitized after each use both indoor, outdoor and bathrooms. Group sizes may increase in Phase 4. Each week will have a theme and each day will have schedule of activities and you will receive a weekly calendar of the highlights for each session. All off-site field trips and pool days have been cancelled. We cannot have on-site entertainment in Phase 3, it may be allowed in Phase 4.
We will be outside as much as possible weather permitting. No two groups will be in the same area at the same time. We may or may not be able to use the playground. We are working currently working through those details. Our staff and participants will be required to wear masks for the entire day. Please note, if we have a case of COVID-19 during Summer Care, it could shut it down for a minimum of 2-5 days. The Kane County Health Dept. will determine the course of action.
Priority registration has been given to everyone that was previously registered for Summer Camp. Summer Care registration will be available on-line to everyone on Tuesday, June 2 at 9am if there is space available.
A balance will be placed on your account when you register. You can pay in full or you can choose the Payment Plan. One-third of your balance will be due on upon registration, June 22 and July 20. Failure to do so will lead to suspension from the program until payment has been received. If you are unable to make a payment, please contact Krista McKinney at email@example.com at least 2 business days prior to due date. Payments can be made on-line or can be put in the Utility Drop Box in an envelope marked “Summer Care Payment”.
Once you are registered, you will be required to join a mandatory virtual meeting before Summer Care starts. We will walk you through everything regarding Summer Care to be sure you are comfortable. You will also receive the Summer Care Handbook.
We know these are big changes and there may be more that come as we move forward as regulations are released from the State and County. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions. E-mail is the best way as our phones are still going directly to voicemail and are checked once a day. You can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
