Fall hydrant flushing takes place October 17-20 and 24-26. The procedure ensures hydrants are fully operational and removes any sediment which may have built up in the water mains. As this takes place across the Village, signs will be posted in affected neighborhoods one day prior to flushing. Typically, flushing takes place 2-6am to reduce inconvenience for residents. Temporary pressure changes and discolored water may occur during or immediately following a flushing. The water is safe; however, it may appear a rust color. Additional details are available at
