Birthday Parade

During the Stay At Home orders enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic, the South Elgin Police Department and South Elgin & Countryside Fire District have partnered to provide a drive-by parade for residents enjoying a socially distant birthday.

May 9, 2020 UPDATE: The Fire District and Police Department will honor the balance of scheduled birthday parades through May, but we will not be taking new reservations after 9pm, Monday, May 11. Firefighters and police officers are more engaged in previously planned training requirements, and they've begun responding to more 911 calls for medical, fire and safety emergencies since the start of May. We've appreciated the enthusiastic response! When it's all tallied, we'll have participated in more than 200 parades during April and May. Thank you! If you have a parade request, please submit it by 9pm Monday to kwascher@southelgin.com.

A variety of businesses and organizations have joined these parade routes, and we've scheduled many drive-by parades. PLEASE NOTE: If our first responders are called for an emergency, they may not be available to participate in every scheduled parade. With this in mind, please use your judgment regarding how much you promise a small child.

Here are the details you need:
  • Please allow 48+ hours between your request and the parade date
  • Parades available 7 days a week
  • Parade availability hours: 11-11:30am and 1-3pm
  • Schedule your parade visit with Kim Wascher, Director, Parks & Recreation. Email kwascher@southelgin.com
  • Include all pertinent information with your inquiry (name, phone, email, address, requested time)
  • Please do NOT call the police department or fire district to schedule a birthday parade
  • Please have your child/family maintain a safe distance from the road
