Administration: Executive Assistant 

The Village of South Elgin is seeking a highly responsible, skilled candidate for the full-time position of Executive Assistant in the Office of Administration.  The Executive Assistant position oversees the day-to-day operation of the Office of Administration, assisting the Village Administrator with legal and technical administrative duties of the office. The position performs key support functions to the Village President, Village Board of Trustees and Village Clerk on behalf of the Administrator and the Village as a whole.  This position prepares the bi-monthly Board Packet, provides key staff support to the Liquor Commission, assists with the creation of the annual budget, and maintains the official public record for the Village. The successful candidate must possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and sound technical skills to operate the variety of software packages of the Village including BoardDocs, New World ERP, and Microsoft Office.  

Qualified applicants must have an Associate’s degree (A.S./A.A.) from an accredited college or university majoring in business management, political science, paralegal studies or a closely related field, three to five years of related experience or training, and a valid Illinois State Driver’s License. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This is an exempt position, with an occasional need to work evenings or weekends. The Village offers an excellent compensation and benefit package with a starting salary of $33.06 per hour. Public Works: Maintenance Worker 1 - Water
The Village of South Elgin, is seeking a Maintenance Worker I for the Utility Services (Water) area of the Public Works department.  This position is under the general supervision of the Water Superintendent, Streets & Forestry Superintendent and the Director of Public Works.  The primary focus of this position will be a variety of tasks, including but not limited to the maintenance and repair of the water supply, pumping, storage and distribution system as well as the sanitary collection systems and associated lift stations.  This position repairs and maintains equipment in compliance with generally accepted standards and regulations.

Qualifications include, graduation from a standard senior high school or GED equivalent education or any equivalent combination of education and experience.   Two (2) years of experience in the Utility Services and/or construction industry.  Possess of a Class C Water Operators License issued by the ILEPA is desired.  Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies situations twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.  Possession of a CDL B driver license within 6 months of employment is required.

Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The Village offers an excellent compensation and benefit package with a starting salary of $24.91 per hour. Parks & Recreation (Part-Time) Youth Program Coordinator
The Village of South Elgin is seeking a perceptive and well-rounded Youth Program Coordinator to operate sports classes for youth age participants.  Candidate should be familiar with safe, educational and fun ways of teaching variety of different sports, or the ability to learn them. Position requires someone who is able to teach, has knowledge of a variety of sports; able to motivate and inspire youth participation; has patience and the able to communicate well with all participants. Candidates should have prior coaching experience.

Preferred applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).  This is a flexible part-time position with frequent shift changes. The pay rate is $15.00 per hour, with no benefits.
