Meet the Director
Kim Wascher has over 30 years of experience in the Parks and Recreation field, and works tirelessly to improve our events, programs and facilities.

In 2023, Kim was honored at an Emerging Women Leaders event at the Illinois State Capitol Building. Nominated by State Representative Dan Ugaste, Kim joined 49 other Illinois women recognized for their exemplary leadership and for making a positive impact through the work that they do. Kim and her team have overseen the redevelopment of Panton Mill Park, Lions Park, and several neighborhood parks including the recently updated Blackhawk Park. She has secured nearly $900,000 in grant funds for an upcoming Sperry Park renovation. She is also a past winner of the Myrtle Spiegler Gerberding Award for Public Service from the YWCA of Elgin - which celebrates women leaders in the Elgin area. Kim is highly involved in the success of Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, manages the South Elgin cemetery, and approximately 100 other things she's contributing to the community without fanfare or accolades.
