All commercial door-to-door solicitors are required to have a permit issued by the Village. A permit, however, does not represent an endorsement from or partnership with the Village. Solicitors choosing to do business in South Elgin must apply for a permit.

Solicitors actively canvassing South Elgin are required to be permitted by the Police Department. Permits must be carried and available at all times. The following is a list of solicitors actively working in South Elgin with valid permits issued by the Department. Solicitors are allowed to operate between the hours of 9 am-9 pm ( Monday-Saturday). Solicitation is not allowed on Sundays or holidays. If you have concerns regarding a door-to-door solicitor and/or questions regarding the authenticity of their permit, call 911 for assistance. If you do not want door-to-door solicitation, prominently display a "No Soliciting" notice on your door. With or without a sign, residents should not be afraid to exercise boundaries with solicitors by refusing to answer their door or by saying no thank you.
